Staying at Mandarina Colombo was the perfect local experience. Mandarina Colombo was recently built which is perfectly located on Galle Road and within walking distance to local Sri Lankan restaurants, shopping, or a short rides away from major attractions.
The rooms are spacious and modern. Our family of 3 stayed here comfortably. You don't need to go to the rooftop for a view of Colombo because most rooms have a balcony you can walk out on. If you prefer more of an open view you can go to the rooftop where the infinity pool and fitness center is located.
The dining at Mandarina Colombo is by far amazing! In the morning the hotel offers international breakfast foods which are delicious. The choices are endless! For lunch and dinner there is normally a set menu that never changes with a variety of foods, but on certain days they have food events such as a buffet of local Sri Lankan food.
Checking in and out with the staff of the Mandarina Colombo we found them kind and informative on things to do around the hotel and settling in.

Mandarina Colombo is located in Kollupitiya, one of the major cities in Colombo. The metro(train) is in walking distance or a cheap tuk tuk ride away. If you're interested in how Sri Lankans live, Kollupitiya is very local. You'll find Galle Face Green and the dining here is authentic Sri Lankan food.
How to get to and from your hotel?
The distance between Colombo and Bandaranaike Airport is 21miles(35 km). The trip to the city center will cost you on average about $35USD (one way) and will take you from 45 to 90 minutes. Be mindful of the time leaving to catch a flight, Colombo traffic is heavy!
A 24-hour airport shuttle service is available on request. You must contact the property in advance to make arrangements. Airport shuttle fee is USD 38 per person (one way).
Colombo express bus takes about an hour but fares from $0.80USD.
Mini bus takes about an 1.5 hour and fares start at $2.20USD.

Where to eat?
A buffet breakfasts is available each morning between 6:30 AM and 10:30 AM. The fee for buffet breakfast: USD 10.00 for adults and children. By far Mandarina Colombo has one of the best buffets in Colombo. The food here is delicious and your bound to go back for another round. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner through out the day as well.
Majestic City mall is in walking distance and offers a variety of fast foods and local food.
Mcdonalds is in walking distance.

Things to do close by?
Galle Face Green- Is an urban park that you'll be able to witness locals, and try their food, as well as walking along the promenade. It is worth a sunset.
