5 SIMPLE WAYS TO AVOID GETTING SICK BEFORE VACAY!

No one wants to spend their vacation dealing with a cold or being sick. For most people vacations don’t come frequently, and when you do get a chance to take a vacation, you want your body to be fully functional. For me personally, it seems every time I'm planning to travel I get sick before the trip. Having a cold limits me from enjoying my vacations to the full potential and especially from scuba diving because you're not allowed to dive when you have a cold. Prepping your body before vacation will help avoid this dilemma while traveling.

1) Take Airborne or/and Vitamin C

Take Airborne or/and Vitamin C to stop the onset of a cold or just to keep your immune system up to par. Whether I do or not feel a common cold coming on before a vacation, I take Vitamin C tablets 5-7 days leading up to my trip. The vitamin C lessens the symptoms and duration of a common cold and supports healthy immune function.

2) Wash Your hands

Sounds so simple but think of all the things we touch on a daily basis that carry bacteria. Try keeping your fingers away from your eyes, nose, and mouth as much as possible. If you can’t get to water and soap, simply use hand sanitizer to stop the spread of germs.

3) Sleep

Continuous lack of sleep can hamper your immune system's ability to function. Try to get a reasonable amount of sleep every day. 7 to 9 hours is the best amount of sleep you should get each night.

4) Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water. It's important before traveling to a warm climate to help you avoid dehydration when traveling from a cold climate. The change in weather is a top issue that gets me sick; therefore I always prepare my body by staying hydrated.

5) Exercise

When your body is up to par, then it's less likely to catch a sickness or cold. Being stressed will increase your susceptibility to catching a cold. Working out relieves stress! Remember you have a vacation to look forward to! This is another one of my top reason why I sometimes get a cold before a trip: I stress myself by forgetting to take care of myself! Exercise won’t only keep you healthy, but it will have you in shape if your planning to go for a hike in a rain forest or mountains. While visiting the tropics, I spend my time scuba diving and carrying all my scuba gear to and from the boat; therefore, being in shape is essential!!
