1.Skyscanner
Skyscanner is one of my favorite websites to find cheap flights so of course, I have the app for on the go! On SkyScanner, you'll be able to search and compare cheap flights, hotels, and car rentals. More great features Skyscanner offers is that there are no booking fees(so no hidden charges), price alerts so you won't miss a deal, and travel inspiration, if you don't know where your next destination will be you'll be able to search the cheapest flight out of your home town to a list of everywhere!

2.Citymapper
Citymapper is an app I use on A daily basis to get around the city(New York) for real-time departures for public transportation and gives you endless options on how to get there. Citymapper will tell you how to get to point A to B from a subway, bus, rail, ferry, bike, car/car sharing, and Uber! All you have to do is decide which option you want to take to get to point B! Not only is Citymapper available for New York City but also other major cities in countries such as the USA/Canada, Asia, Australia, Europe, and Latin American. This app definitely helps me save on taxi rides and helps me travel around town like a local for less!
3.Google translator app
I loveee the Google translator app. For starters I'm not a multilingual speaking person, nor have the time to learn every language for the country I'm traveling to. Google Translate has about 103 languages and 59 languages that translate offline. Some of my favorite features Google translator has is that there is a microphone for speech translation, a camera for translating text via the camera(my favorite feature for random signs I want to read), a phrasebook for future references, and a handwriting option for drawing instead of typing.
4.Duolingo
Learn over 30 languages and receive FREE lessons each day from Duolingo! Not only is Duolingo free but it also has daily reminders to study every day for 5,10, or 15 minutes. When traveling to another country that speaks a different language, I normally try to at least learn the basics from this app a few weeks before traveling.
5.Lyft or Uber
I use Lyft/Uber on a daily basis! The difference between the two apps are just your preference because they are both car requesting/sharing apps. Lyft/Uber are normally cheaper then waving down a city taxi in the city your traveling to. Not only are they cheaper than most city taxis but all you have to do is request a taxi from your phone and you easily pay for the ride with credit or cash in selected cities. Uber/Lyft is available in more than 500 cities worldwide! Some countries you'll be able to use these apps in are the USA/Canada, some countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, and more.
6.WhatsApp
WhatsApp is one of my favorite apps to use when overseas and I need text/call non iPhones users without being charged international SMS fees just to talk on the phone. WhatsApp is a free messaging app that has no fees while using your internet connection when messaging/calling your friends while traveling internationally. WhatsApp has features of video calling, sharing your location, group messaging, voice messages, and able to receive pictures/videos without using your own data. Just make sure the people you want to contact have Whatapp downloaded as well before leaving for your travels!
