The stay at Hotel St. Helene?
Hotel St. Helene was beautifully renovated and reopened in January 2012. The hotel was originally built in the early 1800s but is now decked out in all white walls and ebony stained hardwood floors. The rooms and corridors were modern but a sexy feel to it.
Our room was located on the first floor which was a queen bed suite with balcony & courtyard area access. If your looking for more privacy, the queen bed suite is the room to book. Be sure to book ahead of time this is the only room in the hotel that gives you access to the courtyard from your room.
Overall we had a marvelous stay here. Our flight was delayed and we were stuck in the airport for 12 hours and they wasted no time to make us comfortable in our room. We only had a weekend in NOLA and Hotel St Helene gave us easy access to everywhere we wanted to go. We never once had to get in a taxi until we left for the airport. There is no on-site restaurants located in the hotel but there are many tasteful restaurants that are in walking distance. We're already planning to come back to NOLA for Mardi Gras next year and know exactly where we will be staying again! Hotel St Helene couldn't have been more accommodating and welcoming.
Hotel St Helene is conveniently located in the French Quarter. The French Quarter has access to an abundance of popular attractions and world famous entertainment that's all in walking distance from the hotel. Its also 2 blocks away is Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, and the Mississippi River. St. Helene is the perfect location for a local feel or if your here for events such as Jazzfest or Mardi Gras.
How to get to and from your hotel?
Tip: It's about a 20-30 minute ride to the airport. If your traveling to New Orleans for events such as Mardi Gras give your self enough travel time in case of traffic. There are Tons of parades thats take place throughout the day and which many streets will be blocked off.
Taxi - A taxi ride to and from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) is $33 for one or two people, $14 for each additional person. For events such as Mardi Gras, taxis can charge up to 75$ one way! Arriving early in the morning or late at night will avoid these high fees.
Airport shuttle- The airport shuttle is $38 per person round trip or $20 one way.
Uber/Lyft- Mobile app transportations will be no different to on-call taxis in New Orleans. The only difference between an on-call taxi and an Uber here is that you won't get charged for additional people in the car. A ride to and from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) is about $33. For events such as Mardi Gras, taxis can charge up to 75$ one way! Arriving early in the morning or late at night will avoid these high fees.
